Fanfare of Lights

December is quickly approaching, which means holiday season is in the air. Start the holidays in the brightest way at the Fanfare of Lights on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. Join the Office of Allied Arts and Special Events and the Stillwater community as they gather around the Edmon Low Library fountain to experience the campus illuminate with holiday lights.

Enjoy free refreshments and live performances by local choirs from Stillwater Junior High School and Stillwater Middle School as well as the OSU Chamber Choir, OSU Trumpet Choir and Stillwater Honors Choir. Children are offered free glow necklaces, while they visit with a special guest, Elsa, from Disney’s “Frozen.”  This year, guests are also invited to take pictures with Santa Claus in the Student Union Ballroom.

“Allied Arts and Special Events is thrilled to have other campus entities join in celebrating the season,” said Brandon Mitts, Arts, Culture and Entertainment manager. “This is a great opportunity to expand Fanfare of Lights with the OSU Alumni Association and A Very Merry Mascot Party to bring more festive activities to guests.”

Prior to illuminating the campus, Kyle Hilbert, OSU Student Government Association president, will pay tribute to Remember the 4. Just before closing the event, OSU’s First Cowgirl, Ann Hargis, will begin the countdown to light the campus with orange and white holiday lights at 8 p.m.

The Oklahoma State University Alumni Association invites the public to its A Very Merry Mascot Party prior the Fanfare of Lights from 5 to 7 p.m. at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center. All Cowboys are welcome to this free event featuring Pistol Pete. Activities include cookie decorating, a legacy coloring activity and a winter-themed photo shoot with Pistol Pete. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP for A Very Merry Mascot Party at orangeconnection.org/merrymascot.

In addition to its season performing arts series, the Office of Allied Arts & Special Events is responsible for the coordination and production of many popular campus events such as the Fanfare of Lights, the Miss OSU Pageant and a variety of high caliber professional speakers and performers.
