Homecoming Yearbook proceeds to benefit victims

OSU Homecoming

The 2015 OSU Homecoming Yearbook is now available to purchase online and at several Stillwater locations.

Because this year’s homecoming was marred by tragedy, a special section of the book has been dedicated to those who lost their lives. More importantly, 100 percent of the profits from sales of the book will now go to benefit the victims and their families.

However, the yearbook staff is dedicated to celebrating the other aspects of Homecoming, and decided to proceed with its initial plans to showcase the hard work that went into this year’s celebration. O’Colly advisor, Barbara Allen, thinks it’s best to not forget why OSU Homecoming is so special.

“What happened at this year’s homecoming was a travesty, and we will not forget the victims who were affected by the incident,” Allen said. “But we don’t want to let what happened define OSU Homecoming as a whole. Homecoming is a celebration, and we still want to highlight the accomplishments of our students, faculty and alumni.”

The book details all of the 2015 homecoming festivities from Football Frenzy to Walkaround to the game itself. A team of student writers and photographers documented all of the events so that every aspect of homecoming could be included in the final product.

A significant portion of the book will highlight the accomplishments of OSU Greek life, without whom the homecoming festivities would not have been possible. Each Greek pairing will have its own chapter, which will include all the activities leading up to Walkaround and a full photo spread of their finished house dec.

The Greek pairing that purchased the most OSU Homecoming Yearbooks, Gamma Phi Beta and Phi Gamma Delta, has won $250 and this year’s yearbook cover.

The O’Colly staff has worked around the clock to finish and perfect this yearbook, and we hope that it will honor those lives lost while also celebrating the unique tradition that is OSU Homecoming.

The yearbook is available to purchase online at loyalandtrue.org for just $19.99.
