Glo Run

The Department of Wellness and CowboyThon are co-hosting the annual Midnight Glo Run benefitting the Children’s Hospital Foundation on Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 10 p.m. – 1 a.m. on the front lawn of the Colvin Center at Oklahoma State University.

“This is a fun run—an entertaining activity—so you don’t have to be at any particular conditioning level to participate,” Jason Vlastaras, assistant director of fitness, said. “You can walk it, you can crawl it or you can just hang out at the dance party beforehand.”

The pre-party begins at 10 p.m. and includes a Zumba Glo dance party, a live DJ, glow paint stations and a costume contest for prizes. Participants will begin the 5K fun run at midnight. Once finished, runners and walkers will be invited to enjoy a snack bar to refuel. Registration for the event is $20 for students and wellness members and $30 for non-members. Registration includes a t-shirt, glow sticks and glow paint for each participant.

The Midnight Glo Run was created four years ago to provide a fun run for OSU students and employees. The number of participants has grown to 700 since it first began, and continues to grow each year. Much of its growth is due to the student outreach created after partnering with CowboyThon.

CowboyThon is OSU’s largest student led organization that creates awareness and raises money for Oklahoma’s Children’s Hospital Foundation. Part of the proceeds from the Midnight Glo run will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.  CowboyThon works year round to raise funds. Its main event is a 12-hour dance marathon, which will be held Feb. 11, 2017.

Register for the Midnight Glo Run at the Colvin or Seretean Wellness Center or online at http://wellness.okstate.edu/fun-runs-activities/midnight-glo-run.
