OSU’s Spears School of Business will host Big Data Conference

Learning how to strategically use big data in today’s business world will be the focus of the Big Data Conference on April 7 at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. Also, those attending will be given the option to hear Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computer, at the Executive Management Briefings.

The Big Data Conference is offered by the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. A supporting gold sponsor is Stinnett & Associates and a silver sponsor is ISNetworld.

The conference will explore the management and strategic impact big data can have on a company or organization. Speakers and participants from across the nation will explore various issues such as data capture, data management, data analysis and the strategic use of information for decision-making that drives success in businesses and organizations. 

Ramesh Sharda, vice dean of the Watson Graduate School of Management, Watson/ConocoPhillips Chair, Regents Professor of MSIS, and co-director of the Ph.D. in Business for Executives program, and Goutam Chakraborty, Ralph A. and Peggy A. Brenneman Professor in the Department of Marketing in the Spears School, are faculty coordinators for the conference.   

“This exciting conference is meant for all professionals involved in or interested in analytics,” Sharda said. “We have designed it to be relevant to all industries and as an opportunity to learn how to maximize big data and its impact on your organization. Oklahoma State University’s Spears School of Business has leading analytics programs so this conference is a natural extension to bring our industry partners together.” 

This cross-industry session will bring speakers throughout the nation to share their experience of maximizing the use of big data. Those attending will learn about leading practices in using analytics in energy, healthcare, medical services and retail. 

Featured speakers for the conference include Dan Murray, Director of Business Intelligence Services,InterWorks, Atlanta; Kevin Lafferty, Vice President of Strategic Planning, Devon Energy, Oklahoma City; Sterling Price, Senior Director of Customer Analytics for Global Customer Insights and Analytics, Walmart, Bentonville, Ark.; Dave Albert, founder and Chief Medical Officer, Alive-Cor, Oklahoma City; Jerry Hamm, Corporate Marketing Manager, Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores, Oklahoma City; Rob Armstrong, Analytics Evangelist, Teradata Corp., San Diego; Mark Wolff, Principal Industry Consultant of Health & Life Sciences Global Practices, Cary, N.C., and Dag Yemenu, Vice President of Technical and Customer Services, ISNetworld, Dallas. 

Registration for the Big Data Conference is $225 per person or $275 per person for the Big Data Conference and the OSU Executive Management Briefings featuring Wozniak. Registration discounts are available if eight or more people from the same company register: $195 per person for the Big Data Conference, or $245 per person for the Big Data Conference and to hear Wozniak at the Executive Management Briefings.

Sponsorships are also available for the conference, which includes registrations to the event. 

The Big Data Conference will be held at the Cox Convention Center from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with the option to attend the Executive Management Briefings with Wozniak from 4-5:30 p.m.
