Twelve Students Receive Wes and Lou Watkins Matthew 25:40 Scholarship

Twelve students from Oklahoma State University received the Wes and Lou Watkins Matthew 25:40 scholarship.  

“I congratulate our scholarship recipients and commend our scholarship donors for providing a positive and long-term benefit in the lives of our students,” said David Henneberry, Associate Vice President for International Studies and Outreach.

Students who received the Wes and Lou Watkins Matthew 25:40 scholarship are: Mark Battershell, Ariana Bruner, Charlie Gibson, Carmelita Goossen, Lucy Lehoczky, Haylee Lindsey, Amanda Rauh, Caroline Sheets, Camille Sokolosky, Kelsey Speer, Hannah White and Paige Wikle.

Wes and Lou Watkins truly believe in the virtues of helping under-served communities in other countries as a means to both improve their quality of life and to serve as positive representatives of Oklahoma and the United States. As a result, the Matthew 25:40 Scholarships have been made possible by a generous commitment from the Watkins to establish an endowment providing permanent scholarship support to OSU students. This scholarship provides an additional incentive for students to travel abroad to participate in community improvement projects in developing countries. 

To receive the scholarship the recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student at OSU or part-time in the summer session; scholarships are given to students nominated by the colleges and academic programs granted for study abroad; priority goes to students who actively participate in non-traditional study opportunities in underdeveloped countries addressing issues of hunger, health, education and poverty and preference will be given to one incoming student from Northern Oklahoma College, who intends to complete their education at OSU.
