Uncover the artistic mastery of printmaking techniques found in the featured exhibit “Between Reality and Imagination: The Works of Loraine Moore” in the Gardiner Gallery of Art at Oklahoma State University from June 17 to Aug. 7. An opening reception and curator’s talk is set for Thursday, June 18, from 5 – 7 p.m. in the gallery.

Loraine Moore (1911-1988), an OSU alumna who was trained in printmaking by former art department head Doel Reed, had an extensive artistic career of her own, lasting more than 50 years. Her work was exhibited nationally and continues to be featured in museums across the country. Moore’s many awards include being selected to represent Oklahoma with her art at the World’s Fairs in New York City in 1938 and 1965.

Curated by five art history graduate students at OSU, the works featured in the exhibit bring to light an under-recognized Oklahoma artist and many pieces come from the permanent collection of the OSU Museum of Art.

An academic publication containing six essays by the curators and full-color images of Moore’s works will be produced to accompany the exhibition, which was curated by Jessica Provencher, Teresa Kilmer, and Michelle Rinard with contributions by Sarah Pons, and Kimberly Morton.

The Gardiner Gallery is located on the first floor of the Bartlett Center for the Visual Arts on the OSU campus at the corner of Knoblock Street and Morrill Avenue. Parking is free during the summer. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8 to 5, and Saturday from 12 to 5. Admission is free to all exhibitions and programs.
