Upcoming webinar will focus on encouraging small business in rural communities

Thursday, June 2, 2016

Rural community members looking to support and encourage local entrepreneurship are invited to connect to a live webinar to learn effective strategies and hear real-world examples from other small communities around the nation.

“Gather Your Crowd: Changing Small Town Attitudes Toward Entrepreneurship” is set for 6 p.m. Central Time, Wednesday, June 8.

It is designed for elected officials, cities, municipalities, downtown associations, chambers of commerce, individuals involved in economic development initiatives, as well as current and potential small business owners.

Becky McCray, a small business owner, award-winning author and national and international speaker, based in Hopeton, Oklahoma, near Alva, will be a featured speaker, along with Deb Brown, executive director for the Webster City (Iowa) Area Chamber of Commerce and an internationally recognized online presence as @debworks and publisher of Building Possibility.

“Anyone who is interested in promoting and attracting small businesses and local entrepreneurs to their community should plan to participate in this webinar,” said Dave Shideler, Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension economic development specialist. “This is an opportunity to connect with experts and others interested learning how to promote and support entrepreneurship in rural areas.”

The webinar is sponsored by multiple organizations including OSU Cooperative Extension.

Oklahoma Main Street Communities can earn quality assurance points with their participation in this event.

The session will be recorded and will be available for additional viewings June 9-22, for individuals who are unable to attend the live webinar.

Advance registration is required at http://saveyour.town/webinar and the registration fee is $20.
