Salim Hiziroglu, emeritus professor in the Oklahoma State University Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management, has been selected as a 2024-25 Fulbright U.S. Scholar. Beginning in February 2025, he will complete a 9-month fellowship in Romania.

While there, Hiziroglu will work and conduct research at Transilvania University of Brasov. He will teach courses in value-added composite materials and advise and assist doctoral, master’s and junior faculty members on research projects for publication.

“It is a great honor for me to be a recipient of the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Fellowship,” Hiziroglu said. “I will do my best to carry out my responsibilities and represent OSU.”

Prior to his professor emeritus appointment in the department of natural resource ecology and management, Hiziroglu served as the OSU Extension specialist for wood products from 2000-2021. He has authored nearly 200 publications and been cited in over 6,000 scholarly pieces focusing on natural resource management.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar program is an internationally recognized program for academia. Each year, the organization offers approximately 400 awards in more than 135 countries for U.S. citizens to teach, conduct research and carry out professional projects.

Fulbright Scholar Awards are highly competitive, drawing thousands of applicants to the various scholarship programs each year.

Holly Karibo and Javier Vilcáez, professors in the College of Arts and Sciences, and Norb Delatte, professor in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, have also been named 2024-25 Fulbright Scholars from OSU.
