The Oklahoma State University Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering in the Ferguson College of Agriculture will host its eighth annual Cowboy Motorsports Lawn Mower Clinic on April 6 in Stillwater.

The public is invited to register their push and riding lawnmowers for basic, routine maintenance conducted by students in the biosystems and agricultural engineering department. Services include:

  • Oil changes
  • Blade sharpening
  • Spark plug cleaning
  • Air filter cleaning
  • Mower power washing

Pricing is $30 per push mower and $70 per riding mower. If patrons need the oil filter or other parts replaced on their riding mowers, the filter and parts must be provided at the time of mower drop-off.

Animal science and agribusiness junior Jared Stone has helped with the lawnmower clinic for the past three years and said 50 or 60 residents typically sign up for the event. A total of about 10 students manage the service requests.

“We sharpen blades, clean spark plugs and power wash a lot of mowers, and we appreciate the public coming back to us every year,” he said.

Patrons must register by April 1 before dropping off their mowers on the east side of the Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Lab at the corner of Hall of Fame Avenue and Cleveland Street on the OSU campus. Drop-off times are 4:30-6 p.m. on April 4, 4:30-6:30 p.m. on April 5 and 8-11 a.m. on April 6.

Home pick-up and delivery is also available at the following rates:

  • Pick-up push mower – $15
  • Pick-up riding mower – $30
  • Pick-up and delivery of push mower – $20
  • Pick-up and delivery of riding mower – $40

Once maintenance is complete, mowers can be picked up at the Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Lab from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on April 5 or delivered from noon-7 p.m. on April 6 or 1-6 p.m. on April 7.

The mower clinic benefits the Cowboy Motorsports Club in the Ferguson College. For more information, please contact cowboymotorsports@okstate.edu.
