The Oklahoma State University Ferguson College of Agriculture has selected Cody Loganbill, an agribusiness major from Lawrence, Kansas, as its fall 2025 orange gown recipient. The orange gown honor recognizes one graduating senior from each academic college for their excellence in leadership, academics and service.
As part of the orange gown distinction, Loganbill will represent the Ferguson College as its gonfalon carrier during OSU’s fall commencement ceremony on Dec. 13.
For Loganbill, choosing to attend OSU meant joining a community driven by purpose, momentum and the unwavering belief that students can shape the future of agriculture.
“What stood out to me about the Ferguson College was its community and innovative spirit,” Loganbill said. “From my first visit, I felt like I was stepping into a place where students are encouraged to dream big, work hard and lead with integrity.”
During his undergraduate career, Loganbill immersed himself in academic, professional and service-focused experiences across campus, continuously seeking ways to build community and strengthen student success among his peers. His leadership roles include serving as a Ferguson College Student Council senator, Freshmen in Transition student academic mentor, career liaison and student mentor for the China Agricultural University transfer program. He has also held officer positions within multiple clubs and organizations and co-founded the OSU Running Club.
Whether assisting first-year students transitioning into college life or preparing peers for career-readiness, Loganbill said his intention has always been to meet students where they are.
“At OSU, my goal was to be present, build relationships and create a place where others could succeed,” Loganbill said. “The impact isn’t in the position — it’s in the people who grow because you showed up.”
Loganbill excels academically while also pursuing professional development through internships across multiple sectors of agriculture, including CoBank in Washington, D.C., Cargill Animal Nutrition, and Kansas State Research and Extension. His scholarly accomplishments include undergraduate research focused on conservation practices and pecan insurance systems, with presentations at national competitions and industry conferences.
Throughout his time at OSU, Loganbill has invested in the emotional and academic well-being of others.
“I wanted to make sure new students found not just a university, but a home,” Loganbill said. “College is full of challenges, but community makes overcoming them possible, and Ferguson is unmatched.”
“Cody’s dedication to supporting others through leadership and mentorship truly sets him apart,” said Dr. Cynda Clary, associate dean for academic programs. “His academic achievements and active engagement in the college reflect a commitment to uplifting those around him. We are proud to honor him as the orange gown recipient.”
Cody said the line from the OSU Cowboy Code that resonates with him most is, “Being a Cowboy isn’t in our clothes, it’s in our character.”
He explained that although he did not grow up in a traditional agricultural production background, the agricultural community has shaped his skills, values and career path. He looks forward to a future giving back to the industry that invested in him.
“I will forever be grateful to call myself a Cowboy, not because of where I studied, but because of who I became while I was here,” he said.
