Approximately 200 Oklahoma State University Ferguson College of Agriculture faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends gathered on the Monroe Courtyard of Agricultural Hall to celebrate OSU Agriculture’s impact on the state, region and nation.

The OSU Foundation partnered with OSU Agriculture to host the Agriculture Tailgate on Oct. 11, before the Cowboy football game against the Houston Cougars.

“Earlier this year, we launched a visionary plan to position OSU Agriculture as a global leader, ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow and drive economic growth and sustainability in Oklahoma and beyond,” said Dr. Jayson Lusk, vice president and dean of OSU Agriculture. “It’s always inspiring to see our alumni and stakeholders reconnect and rally support for the future of OSU Agriculture.”

Jett Stewart, Lori Stewart and Jarrod Stewart from Keyes, Oklahoma, visit with Jayson Lusk, vice president and dean of OSU Agriculture, during the OSU Agriculture Tailgate. In addition to the tailgate, Cowboy fans had the opportunity to view a video about OSU Agriculture’s strategic initiatives in the digital game day guide and on the Gary and Claudia Humphreys video board during the game in Boone Pickens Stadium.

OSU Agriculture identified three initiatives to serve Oklahoma and impact the world through the Agronomy Discovery Center, the Beef Center of Excellence and advancing value-added agriculture, Lusk said.

“Our primary objective is to increase profits for farmers and to make food more affordable, healthier and tastier for consumers,” he said. “We want to invest in initiatives that can really make us premier leaders in the areas of beef cattle production, wheat production and value-added agriculture. We are grateful for the seven advisory board members for the Beef Center of Excellence and six major gift donors to the Agronomy Discovery Center.”

Tailgate participants enjoyed smoked brisket from OSU Cowboy Meats seasoned with its signature Dock 4 seasoning, Aggie-X cornhole tournament, fellowship and a shared commitment to advancing agricultural innovation.
