CAS students win money in Three Minute Thesis competitions

Three College of Arts and Sciences students combined to earn $1,400 between the CAS and Oklahoma State University Three Minute Thesis competitions over the past few weeks.

Srijana Karki placed third in the universitywide competition Nov. 6, winning $500. The sociology doctoral student presented “Menstrual Practices in Kathmandu Nepal: From Mechanism of Control to Source of Liberation.” You can watch the video here.

Karki had previously placed second in the CAS 3MT competition Oct. 22, earning $200. She also received $500 for winning the event’s People’s Choice Award. That presentation is available here.

Michelle King, a doctoral student in microbiology, won the CAS competition and $300 with “For My Grandma.” Click here to watch the video. She was also one of 13 competing at the OSU 3MT. Her performance there is viewable at this link.

Third place in CAS went to Denver La Force, a microbiology master’s student who earned $100 for “Chlamydia…only an STI?” That video is available here.
