The 2023 Oklahoma State University graphic design BFA capstone exhibition Threshold opened Wednesday, March 1, at the Gardiner Gallery of Art in the Bartlett Center on OSU’s Stillwater campus.
The exhibition presents work by 30 graduating seniors, with featured pieces representing a culmination of students’ artistic development achieved through years of experimentation, research and critical thinking.
“The capstone exhibition gives the students the opportunity to exhibit their work and reflect on their design education,” said Nick Mendoza, assistant professor of graphic design at OSU. “It is rewarding to see the growth in the students and the transformation their ideas have taken in each of their projects.”
The work on view represents various areas of the graphic design field, including branding, editorial design, poster campaigns, UI/UX, packaging, illustration, lettering, motion design and animation, social advocacy campaigns, and other forms of visual communication.
“The graduating graphic design students show such a wide range of talents,” Gardiner Gallery director Lindsay Aveilhe said. “I have no doubt the great impact they will have in their careers as designers.”
Threshold is on view through Friday, March 17, and is free and open to the public. The Gardiner Gallery of Art is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m, Monday through Friday, and Saturdays by appointment. A reception for Threshold will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, March 4.
