Monday, December 10, 2018

Ru Wang received the Outstanding Poster Presentation award at the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center Research Symposium last month in Oklahoma City.

Wang is a doctoral student studying statistics at Oklahoma State University. She is currently working with a team from the Center for Health Systems Innovation on a project that predicts the risk of developing diabetes. Wang joined the CHSI team in January 2018 and continued the project from a former research assistant as part of her dissertation.

“I was very excited and happy,” Wang said. “This award means our project has received recognition from physicians and professionals in our field.”

Wang’s poster she presented at the HHDC Research Symposium outlined a Clinical Decision Algorithm for Detecting Diabetic Retinopathy in Rural Markets. Zhuqi Miao, Elvena Fong, Andrew Gin and William Paiva assisted Wang on the research project.

“I am thankful for the contribution other people on the team made,” Wang said. “I wouldn’t have received the award without their help.”
