Dr. David Carter receives OSU Outreach Faculty Excellence Award

Spears School of Business professor Dr. David Carter, Greg Massey Professor of Finance and the Oklahoma Bankers Association Chair of Commercial Bank Management, was recently selected to receive the 2019 Oklahoma State University Outreach Faculty Excellence Award.
“As a land-grant university, outreach is an integral part of our mission,” said Dr. Christine Orsmbee, associate provost and director of the Institute for Teaching and Learning Excellence at OSU. “We are proud of the Outreach initiatives conducted by faculty at the university and glad to provide this award.”
Carter’s commitment to outreach spans more than a decade and includes study abroad, online learning and noncredit professional development. Carter strongly believes that students need to have international experiences to prepare them for a world that is dynamic and diverse. For the last three years, Carter has taught a study abroad course that takes OSU students to Peru over winter break. He also is a part of the Spears School’s online learning credit degree programs through the online courses he teaches. He ensures that online students obtain a quality of education equal to that provided in a face-to-face classroom.
Carter is also involved in noncredit professional development programs that are taught to business professionals. These programs include public programs to the energy industry and food service industry. He has also made executive education presentations for 360 BSI, an executive training firm in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“I am excited and honored to have received the Outreach Faculty Excellence Award,” said Carter. “There are many deserving faculty of this award and for my work in Outreach to be recognized is a great honor.”
The Outreach Faculty Excellence Award honors contributions made by faculty as part of the Outreach mission of Oklahoma State University. The award enriches the relationship between the community and Outreach and helps foster faculty participation in Outreach activities.
