Spears School of Business professor Dr. Goutam Chakraborty was recently selected to receive the Executive Program Professor of the Year Award by the University of Iowa and CIMBA Italy, a study abroad program.
It is Chakraborty’s third time in the last six years to receive the award from the University of Iowa, his alma mater (master’s in statistics, 1989, and doctorate degree in marketing, 1991). He taught an international marketing class this past spring as part of the CIMBA certificate program.
“I am honored to win this prestigious award for the third time in last several years,” Chakraborty said. “It is delightful to have the opportunity to teach the executive MBA students and frankly I learn from them as much as they do for me.”
The award is voted on by students in the CIMBA Executive Certificate program, taking into consideration knowledge in the field, classroom engagement and student experience in the classroom.
The CIMBA Executive Certificate trains working professionals in Italy in core business disciplines to help them continue to advance their knowledge and careers. The students take modules over the weekends for one year before traveling to Iowa City, Iowa, for a capstone business simulation and graduation.
Chakraborty has taught at Oklahoma State University since 1991 and he is the founder of the SAS and OSU Data Mining Certificate Program and the SAS and OSU Marketing Analytics Certificate Program. He also has been director of the OSU Master’s in Business Analytics program since its inception in 2015.
