Students receive SAS Ambassador Award

Thursday, December 5, 2019

A pair of Oklahoma State University master’s in business analytics students are the recipients of the SAS® Ambassador Award, given annually to only 15 students worldwide. It is the ninth consecutive year that at least one OSU student has received the award.

As recipients of the award, Sreejita Biswas and Navjot Kaur will receive an all-expense paid trip to the SAS® Global Forum 2020 next March and April in Washington, D.C., and will have the opportunity to present papers at the conference. The conference is expected to draw more than 5,000 users, executives and academics from around the world.

“I feel honored to be recognized as one of the SAS® Global Ambassadors,” Kaur said. “I am excited for the opportunity to present my research work at the SAS® Global Forum. This award gives me the opportunity to join SAS® users from over 35 countries and to participate in intensive learning, networking and speaking sessions.”

“The student Ambassador program being so competitive, it is an absolute honor to be one of only 15 ambassadors picked from not just the country but around the world,” Biswas said. “Having my idea, that I'm so passionate about, be recognized as innovative by one of the world’s largest analytics institutions fills me with jubilation. I am very elated about bringing my ideas to the SAS® Global Forum and about getting to represent OSU.”

Dr. Goutam Chakraborty, SAS professor of marketing analytics and director of the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MS-BAnDS) program at Spears Business, is proud that the two graduate students continue a tradition in representing OSU at the conference.

“I am extremely proud of Sreejita and Navjot for winning this award,” said Chakraborty. “It is a testament of their hard work. This is the ninth year in a row our students have won Ambassador awards and it is truly a reflection of the strength of our program.”

Both Kaur and Biswas and are looking forward to traveling to the conference March 29 through April 1.

“The Global Forum is a great platform to learn, meet people and explore my career path,” Kaur said. “I am expecting to learn about powerful analytics that are being applied to solve complex problems and enhance my existing SAS® knowledge through learning sessions. As numerous analytics enthusiasts and leaders from enormous organizations are attending this conference, I have a platform to showcase my skills and values directly to these skill-seekers.”

“The prospect of meeting the other highly accomplished individuals that will be attending, and seeing how they leveraged SAS’s power to bring magic to the field of analytics, excites me,” Biswas said. “This opportunity will help me hone my analytical skills, and I know that I will be inspired just as much as I hope to inspire.”
