Former Walt Disney World Vice President Dan Cockerell will be the featured speaker Feb. 25-26 during the Executive Management Briefings and Tulsa Business Forums speaker series. Cockerell will present “The Magic Behind Disney: Secrets to Success,” on his visit to Oklahoma.

Cockerell will be speaking:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 25, noon-1:30 p.m., Executive Management Briefings, National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, Oklahoma City.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 26, noon-1:30 p.m., Tulsa Business Forums, Tulsa Downtown DoubleTree Hotel.

During his time with Disney, Cockerell was responsible for leading more than 12,000 cast members to entertain over 20 million guests annually. In “The Magic Behind Disney,” Cockerell will share his experience with developing personal, organizational and team-oriented leadership during his 26 years with Disney. Participants will gain insight on how to promote beneficial behaviors to contribute to a great culture like what can be found in the Magic Kingdom.

“We are thrilled to bring in a leader from such a renowned and unique organization like Disney,” said Ken Eastman, dean of the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. “The Oklahoma business community will be inspired by what Cockerell has to offer during this event.”

Cockerell first experienced working with Disney through the Disney College Program as a front desk host at the Orlando Contemporary Resort in 1989. After graduating in 1991, he accepted an assistant manager position at Disneyland Paris, and since then has held various management and executive positions in Disney including his last role as vice president of the Magic Kingdom. Since retiring in 2018, Cockerell has been conducting workshops, giving speeches and advising companies.

The TBF and EMB speaker series are coordinated annually by the Center for Executive and Professional Development in Spears Business. These programs bring in distinguished business leaders, authors and policymakers to speak in Oklahoma.
