Spears Business honors 2020 grad students

Friday, November 20, 2020

The Spears School of Business held a special event Nov. 20 in recognition of graduate students who are expected to received advanced degrees at the conclusion of the fall 2020 semester. The acknowledgement, held at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center, honored business graduate students from nine master’s degree and doctorate programs and who will not be able to participate in traditional commencement ceremonies this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We were excited to host this event for fall 2020 graduates of Spears School of Business graduate degree programs, allowing them to be recognized and have a picture taken with their program advisers and Dean Dr. Ken Eastman,” said Dr. Ramesh Sharda, Spears Business vice dean for research and graduate programs. “Of course, this being an unusual time, we followed social distancing and mask requirements. We hope to organize a live but virtual graduation ceremony in December to recognize all the other graduates who could not join us in person right now.”

In 2020, more than 380 graduate degrees were granted to Spears Business students. The event was organized by the Watson Graduate School of Management in Spears Business, which will host the December virtual graduation ceremony.
