Dr. Ramesh Sharda’s award collection keeps growing after 45 years in Oklahoma State University’s Spears School of Business.
Sharda is one of four recipients of the Americas Conference on Information Systems 2025 Outstanding Conference Service Leadership Award, which honors those who make outstanding service contributions to AMCIS. He accepted the award at the August conference in Montréal before returning to OSU for this fall semester.
Sharda, a Regents Professor of Management Science and Information Systems, chose to return to faculty this year after more than 11 years as vice dean for graduate programs and research. His Spears Business career began in 1980, when he taught an operations management course.
Since then, Sharda has served on multiple editorial boards, co-authored two textbooks and published widely cited articles. One of the longest-serving Spears Business faculty members, he holds the ConocoPhillips Chair in Technology Management.
Sharda’s leadership extends to various professional organizations and conferences, including AMCIS, an Association for Information Systems conference. He served as AMCIS co-chair in 2009 (San Francisco) and 2016 (San Diego).
Sharda is also an AIS Fellow, Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) Fellow and Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame inductee.
A committee selects AMCIS award winners from a pool of nominees, who must be AIS members. Sharda’s fellow recipients are Dr. Jacqueline Corbett of Université Laval (Quebec City), Dr. Monica Garfield of Bentley University (Waltham, Massachusetts) and Dr. Fiona Nah of the Singapore Management University.
