Karen E. Lucas of Florida International University in Miami was named the new Oklahoma State University director of undergraduate admissions Friday at the Oklahoma State University/A&M Board of Regents meeting at OSU-Tulsa.
“We are pleased to have Karen join our team,” said Dr. David J. Schmidly, OSU System CEO and president. “She is a recognized leader with an excellent record in directing undergraduate admissions and recruitment.”
Schmidly also acknowledged Lucas’ fluency in Spanish that will aid in OSU’s ongoing recruitment of Hispanic students and the university’s new efforts in Puebla, Mexico.
Lucas received her bachelor's degree in journalism from Boston University and her master's degree in history from Florida Atlantic University.
Prior to joining FIU as senior associate director of undergraduate admissions, community college relations and transfer student services and student enrollment communication center in 2005, she was with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Florida Atlantic University from 1993-2005, including serving as the senior associate director for undergraduate admissions for three years.
