Lucas Selected to Direct Undergraduate Admissions

Karen E. Lucas of Florida International University in Miami was named the new Oklahoma
State University director of undergraduate admissions Friday at the Oklahoma State
University/A&M Board of Regents meeting at OSU-Tulsa.
“We are pleased to have Karen join our team,” said Dr. David J. Schmidly, OSU System
CEO and President. “She is a recognized leader with an excellent record in directing
undergraduate admissions and recruitment.”
Schmidly also acknowledged Lucas’ fluency in Spanish that will aid in OSU’s on-going
recruitment of Hispanic students and the university’s new efforts in Puebla, Mexico.
Lucas received her B.S. degree in journalism from Boston University and her M.S. degree
in history from Florida Atlantic University.
Prior to joining Florida International University as senior associate director of
undergraduate admissions, community college relations and transfer student services
and student enrollment communication center in 2005, she was with the Office of Undergraduate
Admissions at Florida Atlantic University from 1993-2005, including serving as the
senior associate director for undergraduate admissions for three years.
