OSU freshman present "Santa's Workshop" for area children

Stillwater area children who attended the workshop created Christmas crafts such as wreaths, popsicle-stick picture frames and pipe cleaner candy canes. They also participated in games such as “Mrs. Clause, May I?” and “Santa Says.”
Santa Claus was on hand to oversee production, take gift requests and pose for pictures.
In addition to providing fun and games for the children, the event gave parents a three-hour window to complete holiday preparations.
“FRC does one large service project per semester. This semester’s project was geared towards the community, and next semester’s project will be focused on the campus,” said Asher Griffin, FRC co-coordinator and an accounting sophomore. “These events are planned and executed by the representatives serving that year and makes these freshman leaders think outside of the box.”
“I feel like this ‘Santa’s Workshop’ shows how incredibly creative they can be,” Griffin said.
OSU System CEO and President David Schmidly attended along with Student Government Association President Claire Carter and Vice President Matt Carter to support the FRC members and begin instilling Orange Pride in the next generation of Cowboys.
In addition to the numerous hours of preparation, the 50 students composing FRC donated their Saturday during the weekend before finals to the community service project.
Country Side Baptist Church donated use of its facilities for the event.
