Friday, October 27, 2006
Scott Williams, assistant athletic director for compliance in the Oklahoma State University
Athletic Department since 2005, was named associate athletic director for compliance
at the OSU Board of Regents meeting Friday.
The appointment is effective November 1 and follows a national search. Williams has
been serving in an interim capacity since August.
“Compliance is critical to the health and success of our men’s and women’s athletic
programs and we are pleased Scott will be leading our efforts,” said OSU System CEO
and President David Schmidly.
“We work extremely hard to comply with all NCAA rules and we are pleased with our
record in the area of compliance,” said Schmidly. “Scott has a strong working relationship
with our athletic department and I am confident our compliance program will continue
to operate at the highest level.”
The OSU compliance officer and staff report to Schmidly.
Prior to joining OSU athletics in February 2005, he served for seven years as the
assistant athletic director for compliance at Oral Roberts University.
An Oklahoma State alumnus, he received a bachelor’s of science degree in accounting
in 1995 and his juris doctorate from the University of Oklahoma in 1998, and is an
active member of the Oklahoma Bar Association. Williams and his wife, Tammy, have
one son, James Ray (J.R.).
