STILLWATER, Okla., July 13, 2007 -- Cowboy Basketball coaches and former players will
participate in Celebrity Waiter Night at Eskimo Joe’s Tuesday, July 17 from 6 p.m.
– 8 p.m.. This fundraising event for the OSU Coaches vs. Cancer program will be held
in conjunction with Eskimo Joe’s Anniversary Week on “Scream Your Team Night.”
"This will be a fun night,” said Dave Hunziker, voice of the Cowboys. “The celebrity
waiter night will personalize the Coaches v. Cancer campaign even further, as our
basketball celebrities personally talk with our fans about the importance of raising
money in the fight against cancer."
Some celebrities for the night include Head Coach Sean Sutton, all assistant coaches,
former players Daniel Bobik, Andre Williams and Bryndon Manzer, along with Dave Hunziker,
and the OSU Spirit Band. OSU’s Pistol Pete and Eskimo Joe’s Buffy and Joe will also
be part of the event. Also, many cancer patients and survivors that OSU’s Coaches
vs. Cancer has previously recognized will attend as special guests.
Tuesday’s Celebrity Waiter Night at Eskimo Joe’s will be the first event of this type
for the OSU Coaches vs. Cancer campaign.
“We are excited to put on a Celebrity Waiter Night this year, seeing we usually focus
our fundraising efforts on selling a promotional item,” said Kendria Cost, OSU Coaches
vs. Cancer Committee chair. “Stan Clark is such a huge supporter of the OSU CvC campaign,
so it was a natural fit for us to contact him about partnering with us for this event.”
Eskimo Joe’s patrons will have the opportunity to donate to Coaches vs. Cancer as
these celebrities visit each table. A silent auction will also take place outside
of Joe’s Clothes to raise money for the program. Autographed balls and merchandise
signed by Desmond Mason, Coach Gundy, Coach Sutton, Stan Clark, Former Coach Eddie
Sutton, OSU Tennis Team and Andrea Riley are some examples of the various items to
be auctioned.
Photo opportunities with the celebrities will be available courtesy of Party Pix.
Pictures can be ordered online and a portion of all purchased pictures will be donated
to the OSU Coaches vs. Cancer program.
“We appreciate all that Stan Clark and Eskimo Joe’s have done for the CvC campaign,
and we look forward to a fun and prosperous evening with our Cowboy fans on Tuesday,”
said Cost.
The OSU Coaches vs Cancer campaign ranks first in the High Plains Division, first
in the Big 12 and third nationally in dollars raised. The OSU Coaches vs. Cancer
committee and former Head Coach Eddie Sutton have been nationally recognized for their
fund raising efforts and Eskimo Joe’s has been instrumental in the success of the
campaign. In the past four years, over $500,000 has been raised to aid in the fight
against cancer. Since 2004, Eskimo Joe’s has donated over $80,000 to the Coaches vs.
Cancer campaign. A new T-shirt, in which a portion of the proceeds will be donated
to Coaches vs. Cancer, will be unveiled in Fall 2007.
