Nord's New Book Celebrates Extraordinary MBA Alumni

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

As part of Oklahoma State University’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of its MBA program, Dr. Jeretta Horn Nord has composed a compilation of its most distinguished graduates’ stories. The book, entitled MBA Preferred: Celebrating 50 Years, highlights the successes of 58 of OSU’s most notable MBA alumni with the preface written by Larry Crosby, dean of the OSU Spears School of Business.

As a class assignment, current MBA students conducted interviews with 125 MBA alumni. Of these interviews, the 50 most extraordinary stories were selected to be a part of the MBA Preferred book. The book also honors eight additional alumni who either stayed at Oklahoma State University or returned later, making a significant impact on the program and a difference in the lives of the students.

The project not only spotlights the achievements of OSU’s MBA alumni, but provided a unique experience for the students involved. Interviewing students were offered a rare glimpse into the adversities and struggles that many of the MBA Preferred alumni endured on their path to greatness, with many describing the encounter as one that they would remember for the rest of their lives.

The MBA Preferred book is only one of Dr. Nord’s numerous publications. She is a professor in the department of Management Science and Information Systems in the Spears School of Business at OSU, as well as the Founder and CEO of Entrepreneur Enterprises, LLC, and Founder of A Cup of Cappuccino for the Entrepreneur’s Spirit book series.

The MBA Preferred book is offered for sale on Amazon.com and will also be distributed at OSU’s MBA 50th Anniversary Gala in Stillwater on April 15-16.  The event offers alumni the opportunity to reunite with former classmates and participate in a variety of events. Some of the events include: an alumni golf scramble, professional development sessions and a banquet honoring graduates of the program. Over 300 people are scheduled to attend. If you are an MBA alum and wish to register for the MBA 50th Anniversary Gala event, visit: http://spears.okstate.edu/mba50 or contact the Center for Executive and Professional Development at 405-744-5208 or 1-866-678-3933.
