Oklahoma Recycling Conference

Thursday, October 4, 2012

The Oklahoma Recycling Association (OKRA) will host Sustainable Recycling: Proven Solutions for Oklahoma, a full-day conference and expo Friday, Oct. 12 at the ConocoPhillips Alumni Center from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Students, educators and business and community leaders are invited to participate to learn about effective recycling and ways to “keep our state great.”

Participants will hear from keynote speaker Lisa Skumatz, the founder of SERA, Inc., a research and consulting firm specializing in economic, policy and evaluation analysis for solid waste and energy clients. Skumatz will discuss the next steps in outreach and policies relating to recycling and will provide useful information on cost-effective programs.

Other topics to be discussed at the conference include Successful Municipal Recycling, Oklahoma Products Made from Recycled Materials and Recycling at Work and School.

Continental breakfast, buffet lunch, refreshment breaks and parking will all be covered with a registration fee of $50 paid by Oct. 5. Students can attend for $15 and all participants can register by contacting OSU Ag Conference Services at 744-6489.

“The Oklahoma Recycling Conference provides a forum for networking, encouraging local en-markets and working to create a unified voice for Oklahoma Recyclers,” said Ilda Hershey, OSU Sustainability Coordinator. “We started hosting the conference at OSU several years ago and attendees keep asking to return year after year.”
