OSU Percussion Ensembles Fall Concert
The OSU Percussion Ensembles will present their fall concert on Thursday, Oct. 18, with doors opening at 7 for a 7:30pm start in the Concert Hall of the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts. This is an earlier start time than usual so audience members can come to the concert and then attend the second half of the Stillwater - Sand Springs football game that same evening.
The concert will open with a jazz influenced piece by Pat Metheny arranged by OSU alum Scott Cude entitled "Rain Forest". A classical transcription of "Danse" by Claude Debussy follows. The first half concludes with "No Exit", a driving and powerful original for percussion ensemble by Lynn Glassock.
The second half opens with "The Crystals" by David Long. This symphonic style piece creates the illusion of crystals in a style reminiscent of an Indiana Jones soundtrack. A haunting original work for keyboards entitled "Octet for Mallet Instruments" by David Morris follows. The concert will close with a brand new work for percussion by Dallas composer Jacob Remington. "Prelude to Paradise" is a very driving and emotional work depicting the chaotic events of the end of days as described in the Book of Revelation. This performance is sure to be an audience favorite.
The percussion ensembles are under the direction of Wayne Bovenschen and Stuart Langsam. General admission is $8.00 / $6.00 for seniors and students.
