Brown bag series to focus on environmental issues

 Interested in endangered species, conservation or harnessing natural resources? Bring your lunch to a series of environmental discussions that starts with the “Status of Oklahoma’s Rare Species,” set for Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in room 102, Life Science West.  

“The seminar series is a great opportunity for students to join the discussion on cutting edge research and real-world environmental issues,” said Cristina Hughes, environmental science graduate program coordinator.

The lunchtime series is hosted by the Oklahoma State University Environmental Science Graduate Program. It will be led by Buck Ray, a senior project scientist from Olsson Associates.  

Future seminars will include

·      “Sustainability and Life Cycle Environmental Impacts: How Energy from Waste Solves Issues,” led by Matthew Newman from Covanta Energy, on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

·      “AP-42 Emission Factor Update and Development: Cotton Gins,” led by Thomas Moore from OSU’s Environmental Science Graduate Program, on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

·      “The Intersection Between Wind Energy and Habitat,” led by Mike Fuhr from the Oklahoma chapter of The Nature Conservancy, on Tuesday, Nov. 11.  

·      “The Grey Snow Eagle House and its Endeavors in Avian Conservation,” led by Megan Trope from the OSU zoology department on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
