OSU Frontiers New Music Ensemble will present a free concert Saturday, March 1

OSU Frontiers New Music Ensemble to present “Infinite Music”

The OSU Frontiers New Music Ensemble will present a free concert entitled “Infinite Music” featuring works of profound spirituality as part of the OK New Music Project on Saturday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the ballroom of the OSU Student Union.

“The ensemble and the OK New Music Project are dedicated to the exploration of contemporary music. The profound spirituality, captured in this concert’s musical selections, is inspired by the inevitability and eternity of time,” explains Dr. Michael Kirkendoll, who directs both the ensemble and the project.

Highlights of the concert include Steve Reich’s “Six Marimbas;” a chamber ensemble work entitled “I Presagi,” by enigmatic Italian composer Giacinto Scelsi; and one of the 20th Century’s great masterpieces, Olivier Messiaen’s “Quartet for the End of Time.”

The Frontiers New Music Ensemble is comprised of OSU music majors and is the premiere ensemble of its kind in Oklahoma.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Dr. Michael Kirkendoll by email (michael.kirkendoll@okstate.edu) or at (405) 744-8990.
