International Student Organization hosts Cultural Night

ISO clubs compete in a two-day international showcase

Twenty area clubs representing 20 countries and regions will present the best of their cultures in an onstage competition on Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 at 7 p.m. in the Oklahoma State University Student Union Theater.

Cultural Night is an annual event hosted by the International Student Organization (ISO) that showcases the cultural diversity at Oklahoma State. Area clubs will compete to take home the grand prize trophy in a two-day talent competition. Tim Huff, International Students and Scholars (ISS) manager, said students love the competitive aspect of the international talent show. 

“The students love to compete,” Huff said. “More than anything else though, the students get a thrill out of sharing their culture with everyone else and getting a chance to express their culture.” 

Huff said Cultural Night performances range from musical performances to reenactments of international wedding ceremonies. Guest performances by the Malaysian Drummers and the International Choir will also take place during Cultural Night. Tickets can be purchased for as low as $5 after Spring Break at Chi-O Clock on the OSU campus or in room 250 of the OSU Student Union. 

ISO is an umbrella organization for 20 area clubs representing 20 cultures from around the world. ISO also represents more than 1,700 international students and scholars from more than 100 countries. The organization is open to all international students attending OSU or any American students who are interested in international culture and diversity. ISO fosters cooperation among international students at OSU and promotes social and culture exchange between students and the community. For more information visit orgs.okstate.edu/iso.
