ISO provides an evening of international cuisine and entertainment

The International Student Organization at Oklahoma State University invites the Stillwater community to have an around-the-world experience at the International Bazaar on Saturday, Feb. 15.

The International Bazaar is from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Wes Watkins Center on OSU’s campus. Attendees will enjoy authentic international cuisine while shopping for clothing, jewelry and other cultural artifacts. Admission is free and food purchases can be made with cash or by bursar charge.  There will be several performances from cultural groups, including the Malaysian drummers and the Latin Dance & Culture Club.

Close to 20 area clubs will be represented at the International Bazaar. Other groups, such as an international agriculture group, will also be in attendance.

Tim Huff, International Students and Scholars manager, said the goal of the International Bazaar is to spread a little more international culture to people who wouldn’t normally have access to it.

“Most people can’t afford to travel around the world,” Huff said. “It’s expensive. This event is a really convenient way for our community and campus to see the world around them in a great atmosphere.”

With a variety of groups represented at the bazaar, Huff also hopes the event will educate the community about the various cultures represented at OSU.

ISO is an umbrella organization for 20 area clubs representing 20 cultures from around the world. ISO also represents more than 1,700 international students and scholars from more than 100 countries. The organization is open to all international students attending OSU or any American students who are interested in international culture and diversity. ISO fosters cooperation among international students at OSU and promotes social and culture exchange between students and the community.
