Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values Conference recognizes OSU fraternities and sororities
This past weekend, students from Oklahoma State University’s Interfraternity, Multicultural
Greek, National Pan-Hellenic and Panhellenic Councils attended the Association of
Fraternal Leadership and Values and the National Black Greek Leadership Conference
in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Interfraternity Council (IFC), which is part of the IFC Division III for schools
with 13-23 men’s fraternity chapters, received recognition in four of the eight award
categories, including Membership Recruitment, Public Relations, Risk Reduction and
Management, and Self-Governance and Judicial Affairs. OSU’s IFC won the Jellison Award,
which is presented to the most outstanding council in each IFC Division.
MGC, the Multicultural Greek Council, was also recognized for their achievements in
Council Management, Membership Intake, Public Relations, and Self Governance and Judicial
Affairs.
The Panhellenic Council, a part of the Panhellenic Division III for schools with 6
to 12 women’s chapters, received recognition in seven out of eight possible award
categories, including Academic Achievement, Council Management, Membership Recruitment,
Public Relations, Philanthropy and Community Service, Risk Reduction and Management,
as well as Self-Governance and Judicial Affairs. The Panhellenic Council also received
the Sutherland Award, which is presented to the Panhellenic Council with the highest
level of achievement in each Panhellenic Council Division. This marks the third year
in a row, and the fourth time in five years that Oklahoma State has brought home the
Sutherland Award.
“Our students work incredibly hard all year round to provide excellent programming
and encourage high standards of scholarship, leadership, and service,” Courtney Skaer,
Panhellenic advisor said. “It is so rewarding to see their hard work pay off in such
a big way. We truly have amazing fraternity and sorority members at Oklahoma State.”
Oklahoma State University’s entire Greek Community was also recognized with the Gamma
Sigma Alpha Award for the spring 2013 semester for having the highest differential
between the All Greek GPA and the All Non-Greek GPA in the Midwest Region. OSU’s Greek
Community has received this honor 17 times since 2004.
