OSU launches United Way Campaign
Tuesday, September 16, 2014
Oklahoma State University launched its annual Stillwater Area United Way campaign during a kick-off luncheon today at the Click Hall at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center.
United Way board members and OSU faculty and staff members, who are coordinators or captains in their departments, attended the luncheon. Varsity Revue executive directors and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity also attended and were recognized for their philanthropic support of United Way.
Stephan Wilson, dean of the College of Human Sciences and this year’s OSU campaign chair, said OSU hopes to raise $240,000 of the $900,000 Stillwater Area United Way goal, which was set based on the needs of 24 partner agencies. Ninety-nine percent of the money raised will stay in Stillwater. “We appreciate the hard work of our campaign leaders and volunteers,” said Wilson. “We look forward to another successful campaign thanks to the wonderful generosity of OSU employees and students.”
Sheri Carter, the Stillwater Area United Way executive director, said the campuswide effort is critical for reaching the annual goal. “OSU is our largest campaign and drives our community through generous contributions and volunteerism. We would not be able to raise $900,000 for 24 helping agencies without the support of OSU.”
This is Stillwater’s 61st United Way Campaign. OSU faculty and staff who want to make a pledge will receive a form to automatically deduct the donation from their paychecks.
