Public reception and artist talk Thursday
Gardiner Gallery will host a free public reception and artist talk featuring Mark H. Cowardin on Thursday Jan. 23 at the Bartlett Center. The reception will be held from 5 - 6 p.m. and the talk from 6 - 7 p.m. on the first floor of the Bartlett Center at OSU.
Cowardin's work is currently the featured exhibit at Gardiner titled "What Goes Up?" which includes a selection of his recent sculptural works
Cowardin will also host a workshop on Friday, Jan. 24, at the Stillwater Multi Arts Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that is free to those who RSVP prior to the event. Cowardin's most recent sculptures are currently on display in an exhibit at the Gardiner Gallery in Bartlett Center at OSU through Feb. 14.
Cowardin's workshop parallels his own studio and art making process. Attendees will learn to observe the world around them and how they both depend upon and impact nature in their daily lives. Cowardin will invite the attendees to create their own 3-dimensional representations of those observation by using found, recycled and reclaimed materials.
Upon completion, the creations will be grouped together to create a mini cityscape or landscape diorama that represents how we occupy and engage with the world on a personal level.
This free workshop is funded by the Oklahoma Arts Council. For required RSVP, please call 405-744-2783
