Final week of Tour de Quartz

Tour de Quartz, a selection of artwork created by Oklahoma high school students during the 2013 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain, is on display at the Gardiner Art Gallery at OSU through Wednesday, June 25. Each student involved last year is represented by one of their pieces of artwork.

During their two week residency at Quartz Mountain, students are immersed in one of the nine artistic fields and taught by nationally renowned artists. Former faculty members include winners of the Academy, Tony, Emmy, and Grammy awards and the Pulitzer Prize. The 2013 drawing and printmaking students were taught by Jose and Cynthia Rodriguez of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Troy Word, an OSAI alumnus who now lives in Massachusetts, led the photography students.

The Tour de Quartz student artists, as well as literary and performing artists, are selected by competitive statewide auditions. Every accepted student automatically receives a full scholarship to the program. Click here for more information about the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain. High school students may register for application here.

The Gardiner Gallery is fully accessible and located on the first floor of the Bartlett Center for the Visual Arts at the northwest corner of Morrill Avenue and South Knoblock Street in Stillwater. Summer gallery hours are Monday—Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday from noon – 5 p.m.
