OSU’s three fall Commencement Ceremonies will be streamed live at www.OState.TV.
Nearly 1,700 students will complete their graduate and undergraduate degrees this fall at Oklahoma State University, which will be hosting commencement ceremonies on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12 and 13, at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater.
Vice Admiral Sean A. Pybus, the deputy commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command in Florida, will be the featured speaker for undergraduate commencement ceremonies on Saturday. Pybus, who graduated from high school in Stillwater, is now the highest ranking senior Navy SEAL in the country.
“Vice Admiral Pybus grew up in a home that repeatedly hosted international students from OSU and he credits that for teaching him the importance of global engagement and cultural appreciation early in life,” said OSU President Burns Hargis. “We look forward to hearing from one of Stillwater’s favorite sons as he shares the challenges and successes of his distinguished and decorated career serving our country.”
Pybus and former OSU Regent Dean Stringer will receive honorary doctorates prior to the commencement ceremonies on Saturday. In addition to serving eight years on the OSU/A&M Board of Regents, Stringer has dedicated much of his life to serving OSU in positions that include president of the OSU Alumni Association, trustee and governor of the OSU Foundation, and director of the OSU Friends of the Library.
The OSU Graduate College Commencement ceremony, for doctoral and master’s degree recipients, will start at 7 p.m. on Friday, followed by two undergraduate ceremonies on Saturday. The 10:30 a.m. commencement ceremony on Saturday will recognize students from the College of Education, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, and the College of Arts and Sciences. The 1:30 p.m. ceremony will recognize students from the College of Human Sciences, the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, and the Spears School of Business. All ceremonies will be streamed live online at OState.tv.
The OSU Pipe Band will lead the Saturday processionals into Gallagher-Iba Arena where candidates will be seated by college. For additional details about OSU commencement, go to http://commencement.okstate.edu/.
