Faculty forum to feature Provost Sandefur

Monday, September 21, 2015

Oklahoma State University Provost Gary Sandefur will be the featured speaker at a forum titled “The Role of Faculty Governance: A Q&A,” on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 3:30 – 5 p.m. in the Student Union Theater.

Hosted by the local chapter of the American Association of University Professors, the forum will include opening remarks by professor emeritus Earl Mitchell, a past president of the OSU AAUP.  The forum is designed to promote awareness about the mechanisms of faculty governance at OSU as well as national norms, and is free and open to the public.

The American Association of University Professors is the national professional organization for instructional faculty.  Faculty members are defined as everyone whose appointments consist primarily of teaching or research activities conducted at a professional level, including tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty, full-time and part-time faculty, and most librarians, research and teaching assistants, and post docs. If you do the work, then you are faculty, regardless of the title assigned.
