Oklahoma State recognized as Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite for second consecutive year

The American Heart Association recognized Oklahoma State University for its commitment to providing a healthy workplace by naming it as a Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite, for a second consecutive year. 

“We at the American Heart Association commend your efforts and look forward to seeing you continue to make great strides in the coming year,” CEO Nancy Brown said.

The AHA recognizes employers who exceed expectations for employee health and rewards those employers for their leadership. Some of the benefits to receiving this award include recognition on the AHA’s website, and the university will have the rights to use the official seal on all internal and external communications.           

“I encourage all our employees and students to continue enjoying our beautiful campus, gardens and facilities,” OSU Chief Wellness Officer Suzy Harrington said. “And continue to be active in whatever way you like, whether it be walking, cycling, jogging, swimming or rock-climbing.”

The OSU Department of Wellness continues to develop new programs and services to fit the community’s needs.

“Earning Gold, the highest level of the Fit-Friendly Worksites, is a great confirmation that OSU has a solid culture of wellness and truly is America’s Healthiest Campus,” Harrington said. “While the award was specific to worksites, our students benefit from our commitment to a culture of wellness.”
