University Dining cuts into lines with mobile ordering app

Wednesday, October 28, 2015

A new mobile ordering app on the OSU campus, Tapingo, allows users to order food and beverages from their favorite dining facilities ahead of time and avoid waiting in long lines.

Long lines and wasted lunch breaks are a thing of the past on the Oklahoma State University campus thanks to a new mobile ordering app. The app, Tapingo, allows users to order their food ahead of time from select locations and arrive when it’s ready – avoiding the frustration of waiting in lines and being late to classes or meetings.

In the time since its record-setting launch at OSU on September 2, 2015, Tapingo has registered nearly 44,000 total transactions from more than 4,500 unique customers. OSU has quickly become Tapingo’s most popular university, averaging between 800 to 1,000 transactions daily.

“It’s been invaluable from both perspectives,” said Terry Baker, University Dining Services director, “…it helps students to be able to order from their phones and even more-so to not have to wait in such long lines and it helps staff in the dining establishments from a production perspective. It’s rare to find a solution like Tapingo that benefits everyone.”

By selecting “Oklahoma State University” as your location and creating an account with your official OSU e-mail address and O-Key password – your meal plan and bursar account are automatically populated into the app, then you can add a debit or credit card as an additional payment method if you like.

Oklahoma State University currently has numerous dining establishments available to choose from within the app, including: Caribou Coffee, Bread and Beyond Deli, Jamba Juice, Johnny Rockets, Slam Dunk, Service Station Grill, Gourmet Galley, Squawkers, Hard Wok Grill and Linguetti’s. There are plans to add more venues in the near future, including the official campus food truck when it opens later this fall.
