Moh’d Bilbeisi, Professor of Architecture in the College of Engineering, Architecture & Technology, and First Cowgirl Ann Hargis and Pete’s Pet Posse received top honors as Oklahoma State University recognized achievements of faculty, staff and administrators at the University Awards Convocation Wednesday at the OSU ConocoPhillips Alumni Center in Stillwater.

Bilbeisi received the Eminent Faculty Award, which recognizes the highest level of scholarly achievement at OSU. Bilbeisi’s work has been recognized around the world in art galleries and technology architectural competitions and published in numerous scholarly venues. He has also received the Educator Honor Award from the American Institute of Architecture Students and been named on of the “Top 40 Architectural Educators” in the nation by Design Intelligence Review. Bilbeisi’s talents are sought out by other schools of architecture, and he is frequently asked to conduct workshops across the nation and abroad.

“Professor Bilbeisi represents the very best as both creative scholar and educator, and he brings creativity, innovation, and artistic expression to the forefront of technical communications,” said Gary Sandefur, OSU provost and senior vice president.

Collections of Bilbeisi’s artwork can be found in the Royal Palace in Amman, Jordan, and in the Porsche Design Headquarters in Ludwigsburg, Germany. Bilbeisi’s art is also featured in the diploma covers of OSU graduates.

Hargis and Pete’s Pet Posse were honored with the Loyal and True Award, which is given to an individual or group who personifies the spirit of OSU through unwavering devotion, personal sacrifice and commitment of time and talents. The program was recognized for its significant contributions to the well-being of OSU.

Pete’s Pet Posse was established in fall 2013 to positively enhance physical and emotional health of OSU students, faculty and staff. The program now includes 28 therapy dogs, including the Hargis’ dog, Scruff.

“We appreciate Mrs. Hargis for her willingness to introduce and lead the development of Pete’s Pet Posse and for her on-going advocacy of health and wellness programs designed to enhance the emotional well-being of America’s Healthiest Campus,” Sandefur said.

The convocation began with Sandefur introducing members of the OSU/A&M Board of Regents, campus leaders such as the OSU Leadership Team and the Executive group, the team of Academic Administrators, faculty and staff leadership groups, the faculty council and student leaders.
