The McKnight Center announces classic movie series: McKnight at the Movies
Monday, October 12, 2020
The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts will bring classic movies and cult favorites back to the big screen starting in October.
“The Performance Hall at The McKnight Center features a large screen and state-of-the-art projection system,” Marilynn and Carl Thomas Executive Director Mark Blakeman said. “This technology, along with our exceptional sound system, will create a unique way to experience old favorites and be entertained at the movies.”
The series will begin later this month with a showing of the original Ghostbusters, followed by Planes Trains and Automobiles in November, and Elf and It’s a Wonderful Life in December.
“We selected films that have been holiday traditions in many homes for years,” said Blakeman. “During this time when we’re limited in our ability to present live performances due to COVID-19, we hope to provide families with something familiar and enjoyable that will get them in the holiday spirit.”
Stillwater residents and McKnight Center supporters Michael Bode and Preston Carrier will sponsor the first movie, Ghostbusters, to kick off the series. To complete the movie experience, The McKnight Center will offer packaged popcorn, candy, and beverages, which can be pre-ordered at the time of ticket purchase.
The McKnight Center re-opened last month after implementing health and safety protocols such as socially distanced seating, regular health screenings and testing for staff, and enhanced sanitation throughout the building. All guests ages four and older are required to wear a mask while in the building.
