June 21 to be administrative leave day
Wednesday, June 16, 2021
Cowboy Family,
In recognition of your hard work this year and the upcoming Juneteenth holiday, I
am authorizing the use of administrative leave and closure of campus services for
Monday, June 21. This allows our staff, faculty and students to engage in the celebrations
planned for this weekend. Juneteenth National Independence Day on June 19 commemorates
the emancipation of enslaved persons in the United States, with celebrations dating
back more than 150 years. Juneteenth marks the arrival of federal troops to Galveston,
Texas to ensure all enslaved people were freed. Diversity, equity and inclusion are
priorities at Oklahoma State University, and we are committed to upholding these values.
Students should note that classes (in person and online) will not be held. Administrative
leave will be provided to staff for this date. Guidance will be published through
Human Resources for supervisors and employees. If you have any questions, please contact
your HR Consultant.
Note: New Student Orientation and related services will continue to be held on Monday,
June 21.
Thank you, and enjoy the long weekend.
Go Pokes!
