OSU to begin using the Common Application, effective 2024 for incoming freshmen

As part of its land-grant mission to ensure more students have access to an affordable education and enriched experience, Oklahoma State University will begin using the Common Application for 2024 incoming freshmen.

The Common App simply and conveniently allows students to apply to more than one institution using the same streamlined application process, eliminating the need to complete separate forms and multiple essays for each college.

“Joining the Common App supports our mission by eliminating potential barriers and providing a convenient option for students to access our undergraduate admissions application,” said Jeff Hartman, director of undergraduate admissions. “Not only does this partnership enhance the college search process for students, parents and counselors, but it also increases OSU’s national visibility.”  

Prospective first-time freshmen can apply for spring, summer or fall 2024 admission via the Common App starting on Aug. 1, 2023. The standard OSU Application will open one month prior on July 1.

Regardless of which option the student chooses, application questions, essay prompts, fee waiver options, admission requirements and deadlines are the same for both applications. Currently, the Common App is not open to prospective OSU transfer students.

“OSU is proud to join the more than 1,000 accredited colleges and universities that are part of the Common App community,” Hartman said. “Together, we’re committed to helping make the dream of earning a college degree a viable option for as many students as possible.”
