Cyber Security Concerns During the Holidays

Oklahoma State University Information Technology has received reports of malicious emails disguised as shipping and/or billing notifications. The holiday season presents many opportunities for cyber thieves to strike.

This holiday, if you need to check online orders, please do not trust the links in emails concerning shipping and/or billing. To check your order and its shipping, go directly to the vendor’s website and sign in to your account to verify your shipments.

If you receive a suspicious email, pay attention to the following:

• Do not click links or download files from unknown senders.
• Report the email to the OSU-IT Helpdesk (see below for contact information).
• Delete the email.
• To avoid losses, make several off-line backups of all your important files.
