Miller Receives Golden Torch Award

Dr. Bridget Miller, associate professor in health education and promotion, was presented with the 2018 Golden Torch Award by the Oklahoma State Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society at its initiation ceremony on April 8. The award recognizes outstanding faculty members who have made significant contributions toward the success of students.
“Dr. Miller is extremely deserving of this award,” says Leslie Evans, director of student academic services for the College of Education, Health and Aviation. “She is invested in the success of her students, both during their time here at OSU and after graduation as they go into their professional careers. She goes the extra mile for students every day.”
Miller has been a member of the OSU faculty since 2004 and currently serves as the health education and promotion program director. In 2012, she was named the Joan Donelson Jacques Endowed Professor of Health Promotion. Her research interests include the impact of exercise and physical activity participation on the psychological aspects of health, including mood, body image, self-esteem and confidence. Miller is a two-time recipient of the College of Education, Health and Aviation Teaching Excellence Award and previous Regents Distinguished Teaching Award honoree.
Since its formation in 1930, the Achafoa chapter of Mortar Board has recognized members for their superior scholastic ability, outstanding and continual leadership and dedicated service to the university community. The purpose of Mortar Board is to promote equal opportunities among all people, support the ideals of the university, advance a spirit of scholarship, recognize and courage leadership and establish the opportunity for meaningful exchange of ideas as individuals and as a group.
