Human Sciences students selected as OSU Top 20 Freshmen

Five College of Human Sciences students were recently announced as Oklahoma State University Top 20 Freshmen Men and Women for 2018-19. OSU’s Mortar Board chapter oversees the selection of the Top 20 Freshmen Men and Women.
Sydney Bellah, Elizabeth Burks, Mackenzie Erdley and Raegen Kennedy were chosen as Top 20 Freshman Women and Payton David was recognized as a Top 20 Freshman Man. In addition, Bellah was among the Top 10 Freshmen Women at OSU for 2018-19.
Sydney Bellah, Human Development and Family Science
Sydney Bellah is a Human Development and Family Science major with an option in child
and family services. A native of Stillwater, she was a Freshman Research Scholar and
received a Wentz Research Scholarship in her first year. The Human Sciences Ambassadors
honored her with the Freshman Research Award. Bellah was active with the Human Sciences
Student Council and the Cycling Club and also trained for and completed a marathon.
She is a member of Chi Omega women’s fraternity.
Elizabeth Burks, Nutritional Sciences
Elizabeth Burks is a Nutritional Sciences major with an option in human nutrition
pre-medical sciences. Originally from Amarillo, Texas, Burks was a member of the President’s
Leadership Council and the OSU Concert Chorale. She received the Academic Achievement
Award from the Human Sciences Ambassadors. Burks also served as a supplemental instructor
for CHEM 1214 during the spring semester and was involved with CowboyThon, a philanthropic
event to raise funds and awareness for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. She
is a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
Payton David, Nutritional Sciences
Payton David is a Nutritional Sciences major with an option in allied health. In his
first year at OSU, David served on the Human Sciences Student Council and as a representative
in Junior Greek Life. The Elk City, Oklahoma, also volunteered to coach a 9-and-under
baseball team in Stillwater. He is a member of Farm House fraternity.
Mackenzie Erdley, Design, Housing and Merchandising
Mackenzie Erdley is majoring in Design, Housing and Merchandising with an option in
interior design. Originally from Mustang, Oklahoma, Erdley was a Freshman Research
Scholar and served on the board of directors that planned programming for her residence
hall, West University Commons. She was selected as a student recruitment assistant
for the College of Education, Health and Aviation and the College of Human Sciences.
Raegen Kennedy, Design, Housing and Merchandising
Raegan Kennedy is a Design, Housing and Merchandising major with an option in merchandising.
A native of Lawton, Oklahoma, she was a member of President’s Leadership Council and
the Student Government Association’s Freshman Representative Council. Kennedy also
served with the Student Alumni Board organization, promoting campus spirit and traditions.
She is a member of Chi Omega women’s fraternity.
