The College of Education and Human Sciences Academic Programs and Student Services unit was honored with the Award for Excellence in Innovation, presented by OSU Wellness as part of its Certified Healthy Department program for 2022.
Founded in 2011, the Certified Healthy Department initiative helps departments and units instill guidelines that promote a healthier office environment and positive culture for employees, staff, students and visitors. The Award for Excellence in Innovation is given to the most innovative wellness program and initiative across the OSU system.
Kristen Queen, senior academic advisor in the College of Education and Human Sciences, said this includes providing leadership support, mental health support, employee engagement and improving the overall well-being of each individual in the department.
“A Certified Healthy Department has established a drive and focus to fully support those in their area,” Queen said. “It represents a department that has put forth the effort to evaluate their facilities and safety organizations. It means there is consistent engagement and communication of how to best support employees in all areas of wellness.”
Multiple departments from the college also achieved Certified Healthy Department status:
Gold Tier
CEHS Extension, Engagement and Continuing Education
Department of Nutritional Sciences
Silver Tier
School of Community Health Sciences, Counseling and Counseling Psychology
Department of Human Development and Family Science
Department of Design, Housing and Merchandising
The College of Education and Human Sciences tagline is People. Passion. Purpose. People are at the forefront of the college’s mission and purpose, and advancing our efforts in prioritizing wellness stays at the core of who we are.
