College of Education and Human Sciences presents 2022 faculty, staff awards

The College of Education and Human Sciences recognized faculty and staff excellence in service, mentorship, research, teaching, creativity, innovation and more during the annual Faculty and Staff Awards Ceremony on April 13.
In total, a dozen awards from 11 categories were presented, seven to faculty and five to members of the staff. The 2022 recipients are:
Faculty Awards
The Global Education Faculty Excellence Award was presented to Dr. Mwarumba Mwavita, associate professor in research, evaluation, measurement and statistics. The award honors excellence in international teaching, research and outreach programs.
Dr. Issac Washburn, human development and family science associate professor and research methodologist, received the Graduate Faculty Excellence Award, recognizing his exemplary achievement in leadership, scholarship, professional involvement and university and community service.
Dr. Ginger Welch, clinical associate professor in human development and family science, received the Outreach Teaching Excellence Award for her exceptional contributions to the Outreach mission at OSU.
The Research Excellence Award was presented to Dr. Michael Criss, associate professor of human development and family science. The award honors research excellence, including all scholarly, creative and scientific activities.
The Marguerite Scruggs Award for Meritorious Early Career Research was presented to Dr. Sumit Mandal, assistant professor in design, housing and merchandising. The award recognizes faculty whose early career achievements demonstrate outstanding potential to become distinguished faculty in the future.
Dr. Sam Emerson, assistant professor in nutritional sciences, was honored with the Teaching Excellence Award. The award recognizes full-time faculty members who have evidenced unusually significant and meritorious achievement in instruction.
Dr. Alex Bishop, associate professor and Bryan Close Professor in Adults and Aging in the Department of Human Development and Family Science, received the Undergraduate Research Mentor Award. The award recognizes Bishop’s exceptional performance as a research mentor.
Staff Awards
The college presented two Staff Star Awards to Allison Campbell, accountant in the business operations office, and Erica Still, administrative assistant for the Department of Human Development and Family Science. The Star Award honors individuals who are considered all-around stars by their department as well as to those outside their immediate work group.
Brandi Davis received the Staff Creativity and Innovation Award, given to staff members whose big ideas and creative thinking help address challenges in the college. Davis is an administrative assistant in the School of Teaching, Learning and Educational Sciences.
The Staff Mentor Award was presented to Kristi Seuhs, Director of Academic Advising. The award recognizes staff members who have mentored colleagues to reach their fullest potential in the college and in their career.
Crystal Wilson, assistant director of the School of Community Health Sciences, Counseling and Counseling Psychology, received the Morsani Staff Service Award. The Morsani Award honors an exceptional level of loyal service, leadership and commitment to OSU.
