Wednesday, June 12, 2019
Professor and interim department head Heather Gappa-Fahlenkamp and associate professor Joshua Ramsey, both of chemical engineering in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology represented Oklahoma State University at the 2019 BIO International Convention.
The convention represents more than 1,100 biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers and related organizations across the United States and in more than 30 other nations, and helps to grow the global biotech industry.
Gappa-Fahlenkamp discussed her research in tissue engineering and developing models for better testing of drugs and therapeutics to develop models that mimic the body’s response, specifically the immune response.
Ramsey discussed his research in developing a new concept for a multi chamber, single-use bioreactor, where chemical processes take place that involve organisms or biochemically active substances derived from such organisms.
