CEAT’s graduate programs rank high on U.S. News and World Report Best Online Programs

Tuesday, January 26, 2021

Oklahoma State University’s College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT) tied for No. 25 in the nation for its online graduate engineering programs, according to U.S News & World Report 2021 Best Online Programs rankings, which were released today

CEAT has been ranked in the top 25 for the past four years.

Graduate programs create opportunities for students to advance their career and grow in their field.

“Though there are numerous factors which determine our overall ranking, I believe it is the quality of faculty and staff associated with online learning which plays the most essential role,” said Nathan Cragun, manager for CEAT Online Learning.

Cragun believes that it is both the quality and manner in which information is transferred to students that impact the success of students.

“We are fortunate to have numerous instructors and staff who are willing to utilize the latest technology and resources to enhance the educational experience of students,” Cragun said. “As a result of the work and collaboration between students, instructors and staff everyone becomes part of the ‘CEAT online family.' Students quickly discover that if they ever need assistance we are simply a call or email away.”

OSU CEAT currently offers Electrical Engineering (ME and MS), Engineering and Technology Management (MS), Fire Safety and Explosion Protection - Engineering Technology (MS), Fire and Emergency Management (MS), Industrial Engineering and Management (MS) and PhD in Fire and Emergency Management.

These programs are 100 percent online and are accredited.

The graduate programs are designed for scientists and engineers interested in furthering their careers.

Cragun also noted that a tremendous amount of the success CEAT Online has experienced is the result of the efforts of Dean Paul Tikalsky and Associate Dean Randy Seitsinger.

“We are very fortunate to have leadership in the college which recognizes the tremendous value of online learning, and the opportunities it makes available to individuals around the world,” Cragun said. “We truly are impacting lives and the future of our nation and world!”

U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on five categories:

  • Engagement (25%) - the amount of interaction between students and professors.
  • Faculty Credentials and Training (25%) - the measurement of credible faculty members and resources for training faculty in distance learning.
  • Expert Opinion (25%) - a survey of high-ranking academic officials in engineering helps account for intangible factors affecting program quality that statistics do not capture.
  • Services and Technologies (12.5%) - Programs that incorporate diverse online learning technologies allow students to remain flexible, as well as gain access to assistance, career guidance and financial aid resources.
  • Student Excellence (12.5%) - a measure of student ambitions, accomplishments and aptitudes while enrolled in the program.
